Happy one year birthday to our sweet Sarah the Great Dane.

She’s grown so much this past year. This is what she looked like when we first got her:

I drove to 2 Cann Ranch today to pick up Sarah. Since I was leaving from Little Miss Throwsafit’s speech therapy in Grayling, I followed the directions from my GPS just in case there was a shorter way to get there than I was planning on going, which was 1-75 to West Branch to M-30. I’m glad I did that because it took me on a beautiful, scenic route through the back roads of Northern Michigan.

I had my new fancy schmancy Fuji FinePix S5700 with me because Luann is in the market for a new digital camera and was impressed with the deal I got on mine from Ritz Camera.

While I was driving through the woods on Maple River Road, I stopped a couple of times to take some pictures of landscape that caught my attention (click on any of the pictures to enlarge):

Lovely, huh? It was such a beautiful drive. Mile upon mile of tree lined roads, lakes, and ponds.

I just thought that was cool.

Once I got to Luann’s I had to take a few pictures of Sarah, too:

It’s hard to believe that Sarah is just 4 months old today. She’s such a big girl and so sweet. The last picture is of Sarah and Luann.

Sweet Sarah is getting so big

I swear I can see her growing everyday. She was such a little punkin with we first got her. Here’s our Sarah today. Keep in mind she’s just 15 weeks old. Take a look at the size of her paws. She’s gonna be a big girl.

She’s doing pretty well behaviorally but she still, as all puppies do, has her issues. Just yesterday, when my 5 year old came into the house, Sarah jumped at him and started biting his clothes in much the same way she bites at Sammy our Golden Retriever when she wants to play. We yell “no!” in an effort to keep drilling it into her head that that behavior like that is simply not allowed, but she’s got that puppy brain still and she forgets. My husband even went so far as to spank her. We’re taking her to weekly obedience classes on Thursday nights, so we think that will help quite a bit. She also gets the chance to meet customers on almost a daily basis, so she’s getting quite a bit of socialization. On the whole, she’s doing well.
