Little Miss Throwsafit had another doctor’s appointment at the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor today, so we were up early and out the door at 6:45am for a 10:00am appointment. This time it was to see her neurologist, Dr. Leber. When she saw him last year, she had just turned 2 years old and wasn’t even crawling. This year, thank God, she was walking in her walker. As you can tell, overcoming hypotonia is a very long process.

What a difference a year makes.

He was very pleased to see her walking with her walker. He also asked her several questions to gauge how well she understood him, but she, of course, became very shy and shook her head “no” in response to every question he asked, even when it was obvious it was not the correct answer.

Oh well.

Thankfully, it was an uneventful appointment but the doctor wants her to see an ophthalmologist to have her eyes checked out. He said that sometimes something at the back of the eyes can show some kind of cause for the hypotonia, and idiot me didn’t ask any follow up questions. He told me that it’s the only thing he can think of to check at this point since every blood test, biopsy, and scan she’s had has come back normal.

After our appointment, we met my mom for lunch at Paesano’s on Washtenaw and then did a little shopping at Barnes & Noble where I picked up a very cool Moleskine notebook. Even though I have half a dozen journals at home, including this beautiful hand painted journal I found at Books-A-Million (love that store by the way) that I carry with me in my bag, I couldn’t resist the simplicity of the red Moleskine lined notebook. I’m afraid I have the same weakness for journals that I have for handbags.
