Yes, I’m officially a geek. How so? Because I got so excited, like “I got a new handbag!” excited, when my new Seagate External Hard Drive arrived. This is my new best friend:

It’s so cool. I bought it on eBay for $66. It’s 100 gig, so it’s space I desperately needed, and I really do mean desperately. My laptop’s hard drive has 39 gig and with all my photos and home videos that I had accumulated, I only had 2.22 gig of free space left. That left me with no room for new, fancy, schmancy software.

Now that I’ve got the storage issue solved, I need to move onto the USB port problem. I have three USB ports on my lap top. Two of them are side by side on the left side of my lap top. The other one is on the back next to my power plug. When my external hard drive and my camera are both attached to my computer, I don’t have any additional USB ports remaining for my printer. So, this will be my next computer accessory purchase.

My new design for Up North Mommy is now complete. Isn’t it beautiful!! Natalie from Personatalie designed it using self-hosting WordPress so that I could do whatever I wanted design wise (hey, that’s my brother-in-law’s company’s name), and I’m happy we did it that way.

When she asked me what I wanted my blog to look like, all I told her was I wanted a design that reflected my Up North life, which was rustic, woodsy, and relaxed with a feminine touch. Yes, my directions were really vague, but having worked with designers in the past when I was a product manager of foodservice glassware at Libbey, I knew that to get some really cool, interesting designs, it was best to give my designers general descriptions of what I wanted the product to look like or reactions that I wanted people to get from looking at the product, and then just let them design away.

That’s what I did with Natalie, and I got fantastic results.

What’s especially exciting to me is that I have a completely original design made from original images, drawings, sketches, etc. from Natalie herself. Click here to learn how Natalie designed my blog.

Gotts’ Landing has new software at last. It was quite an ordeal working on this project, but I have to say it worth it because I learned so much. So now we have a great new software program that is more efficient and user friendly than our previous program that completely crashed on us. We have new reports that will allow us to better track our customers as well as canoes, kayaks, rafts, and tubes so much better. And we can add the cost of a campground pick up quickly, too.

We are having new software installed in our canoe livery so we can better serve our customers and do business more efficiently. Anyway, we ran into a number of issues that we were only able to resolve slowly over the afternoon. As a result, neither my husband nor I was able to watch puppy Sarah very well, so, unfortunately, she had a three accidents in the house. Tomorrow we are going to have to watch her very carefully so she doesn’t get out of control. Anyway, after working for about 9 hours on the software upgrade, we called it a day and will pick up again tomorrow.
