When you have a child with physical and speech disabilities, some of the most basic milestones require more time and diligence on both the parents’ and the child’s parts. Potty training is one of those milestones. Because we have knowledge of LMT’s limitations we have not put too much pressure on her to accomplish potty [...]

Today Little Miss Throwsafit turned a big corner. Normally she crawls or walks on her knees around the house, but today she started to stand up and walk everywhere. It was so cool to see her on her feet walking from room to room like a normal four year old. Well, she doesn’t walk with [...]

My little niece, Kate, had open heart surgery on Monday. She has a rare condition where her heart is upside down and on the wrong side of her chest. My sister-in-law and her husband knew this about Kate and adopted her anyway because they feared she would die in China.

Some of you may have heard about Barack Obama’s tone deaf attempt at a self-deprecating joke by comparing his bowling capabilities to the Special Olympics. If we give her too much she gets diarrhea. What makes this especially tricky is that the constipation can manifest itself suddenly. One [...]

For several months now Little Miss Throwsafit has been walking with a walker and getting more sure footed and more confident every day. She moves her walker around with greater ease all the time. Since it has swivel wheels, she’s able to get around the house and other areas so much easier.
Well, I am thrilled [...]

My poor baby girl. Once in a while therapy doesn’t go as well as we’d like. Sometimes my daughter has a bad day, or just doesn’t want to be there, or is missing me even though I’m just five feet away. No matter what makes her sad, it’s so hard to watch it and not [...]

This weeks Special Exposure Wednesday is a blast from the past, if that’s ok. It’s a photo of Little Miss Throwsafit when she was just 10 months old and still struggling with sitting up. So to help give her more support, I got her a Bumbo Seat. This is greatest invention. It gave my [...]
