Back to real life and a few random thoughts

We got home earlier this afternoon and had a great time watching the Super Bowl. Yeah Saints!! I’m not a usual New Orleans Saints fan. It’s that I love to see the underdog win.
I enjoyed many of the Super Bowl commercials. Several of them were hilarious, this one in particular

This Snickers ad made me, well, [...]

A Nevada couple letting their SUV’s navigation system [...]

Small town shopping

Categories: Miscellaneous — Kim on Nov 07, 2009 @ 10:01 pm Comments (3)

Friday night our town kicked off the Christmas season with the lighting of the trees that line the street downtown.  Most of the shops that lined the street were open to show off their hot products for Christmas. People milled up and down the street enjoying the evening.  Wood burning fires in metal garbage cans [...]

This would be a lot of fun, I think

I haven’t seen a full season American Idol in a few years, but this sounds like it would be a lot of fun:
Billionaire show producer Simon Fuller, who managed the Spice Girls, is in talks to hire Posh, 35, as a judge.
It comes after Paula, 47, yesterday revealed on her Twitter web page that [...]

This and that

Trout season began this past Saturday. Unfortunately it was a pretty rainy day but our fly shop did decent business. This weekend should be much better for us even though it will only be in the 50’s. At least it is supposed to be sunny. That could change, though.
While checking the weather for my area [...]

If so, then you need to meet Susan Boyle, a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent. Kevin at Wizbang outlines the set up:
All of which leads to the much more interesting discovery the first episode of Britain’s Got Talent – 47 year-old Susan Boyle. She appears to be standard delusional reality show fodder as she enters [...]

An amazing story of bravery and skill

Categories: Miscellaneous — Kim on Jan 15, 2009 @ 9:41 pm Comments (2)

I watched Bill O’Reilly’s interview with a man named Fred Beretta, a passenger on US Airways flight 1549 that crash landed in the Hudson River. The story he told was amazing.  There were 150 people and 5 crewmembers on the plane, and all of them were calm during the entire episode. When the plane was [...]

CPSIA: Second hand stores exempt

Categories: Internet, Miscellaneous — Kim on Jan 12, 2009 @ 11:40 am Comments (3)

Well, folks, the outcry against forcing second hand and thrift stores to test all used products coming in their doors has worked. The Consumer Protect Agency announced this on Friday:
A federal ruling means that thrift stores and consignment shops will not be forced to test children’s products for lead.
It was announced on Friday that [...]

Yesterday I posted the daily devotional from the Purpose Driven Life about whether your life has margins or is marginless. Today the devotional offers four reasons why we should try to widen the margins in our lives.
Here are four immediate benefits you’ll receive by building margin into your life:
