Do you have margins in your life?

Categories: Family, Food and Drink, Parenting, Works for Me Wednesday — Kim on Jan 05, 2009 @ 2:30 pm Comments (1)

I get a daily devotional from the Purpose Driven Life everyday. Most days I glance at the subject line and if it looks interesting, I’ll open it. Many days don’t interest me that much. I can’t tell you why the subject line “Margin or Marginless?” caught my attention today, but it did. I’m glad I [...]

NORAD is tracking Santa’s route

Categories: Blog life, Family, Food and Drink, Works for Me Wednesday — Kim on Dec 24, 2008 @ 6:07 pm Comments (1)

NORAD is tracking Santa! You can follow Santa’s path throughout the world as he delivers his presents to the good little boys and girls. Virtually all of Europe is done already. It’s amazing how efficient he is. At the moment that I’m writing this he’s in Amsterdam, Netherlands, which means it should be a fast [...]

Beef: it’s what’s for dinner

Categories: Blissfully Domestic, Family, Food and Drink, Internet, Works for Me Wednesday — Kim on Dec 15, 2008 @ 9:36 pm Comments (7)

Pot roast to be exact was for dinner last night, and it turned out wonderfully! And it was really simple to make, so I thought I’d share the recipe.

2 teaspoons olive oil
3 pounds boneless chuck roast
1 onion, chopped
4 medium unpeeled potatoes cut into pieces
baby carrots - as many as you want
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 bay [...]

Rudolph and Santa almost banned

Categories: Food and Drink, Parenting — Kim on Dec 15, 2008 @ 6:41 pm Comments (1)

I really wonder what is going on in our country that people are so easily offended by virtually anything.  Today I read at Michelle Malkin’s place that a school in North Carolina almost eliminated any reference to Rudolph and Santa in a school concert because a parent complained.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was almost grounded at [...]

Breaking out the bread machine

Categories: Food and Drink — Kim on Dec 07, 2008 @ 3:36 pm Comments (9)

My sister-in-law Kris got me a bread machine last year for Christmas, and can you believe I’m just using it now. Better late than never, I suppose.  Since it didn’t come with a manual, I downloaded one easy enough at kitchen.manualsonline.com and after going through to familiarize myself, I have decided to make Triple Cheese [...]

An Up North Mommy Christmas Season

Categories: Family, Food and Drink — Kim on Nov 28, 2008 @ 9:22 am Comments (4)

It’s now the day after Thanksgiving so I just put up my new Christmas header. My fabulous designer, Natalie, designed it and it’s perfect, don’t you think?
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their friends and family. My husband, kids, and I are here at my parents’ house for Thanksgiving, which was great. We [...]

What a great night

Categories: Film, Food and Drink, Up North Happenings — Kim on Nov 23, 2008 @ 11:43 am Comments (1)

Last night was wonderful. My husband and I went on a date, thanks to my parents who watched the kids for us. We had a fantastically prepared dinner at the Willow Tree Restaurant in West Branch. I had two Flirtinis (Grey Goose Vodka, Cointreau, champagne, and pineapple juice). Yes, two! They were so good and [...]

We’re having Dwight Yoakam for lunch

Categories: Family, Food and Drink — Kim on Aug 07, 2008 @ 3:35 pm Comments (5)

I found these cute chicken strips at Glen’s the other day, and they’re really quite good. To be honest, it’s the name that caught my attention: Dwight Yoakam’s Chicken Lickins Chicken Fries. Dwight Yoakam anything would catch my attention, honestly. We love Dwight Yoakam at our house. My husband and I saw him in concert [...]

Categories: Food and Drink, Up North Happenings — Kim on Jul 18, 2008 @ 12:05 pm Comments (6)

Ok, I weighed myself again this morning. Granted it has only been five days since my last weigh-in, so take that for what it’s worth.
This is my weight loss for the past five days: nada.
I have plateaued, people. I’m going nowhere fast.
So I’m calling out for some help all Summer of Me! contestants and anyone [...]
