Tonight we celebrated Little Man’s and Littlest One’s birthdays at the Toledo Zoo. We had a party at the Animal Party Room with all we could eat pizza, bread sticks, cookies and cake and then we bundled up and went to the Lights Before Christmas. It was such a great time. I took a picture [...]

It’s now the day after Thanksgiving so I just put up my new Christmas header. My fabulous designer, Natalie, designed it and it’s perfect, don’t you think?
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their friends and family. My husband, kids, and I are here at my parents’ house for Thanksgiving, which was great. We [...]

My parents’ development has a yearly Turkey Trot, a 5K run that takes place on Thanksgiving morning. The one mile mark is right in front of their house, so we all shuffled outside at around 9:00am and watched the runners go by.
What a bunch of turkeys! No, seriously. My parents said they’ve seen people dressed [...]

May you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving. Many people don’t know the true history of Thanksgiving, which is actually the story of Squanto. If you haven’t read it, you can read it here. It’s an amazing story.
Today we’re fixing wild turkey for our dinner that a friend, Dennis, shot for us. None of [...]

I stopped at the side of the road shortly after I left to come to my family’s Thanksgiving feast because I wanted to take some photos of some beautiful snowy woods:
This is one of the reasons why I love living in Up North.

No school for Little Man today. All the schools are closed up here because of the snow. We live in a rural area so the bus ride for many kids is quite a distance. Some kids on LM’s bus have an hour ride and that’s when the roads are dry. Can you imagine the bus [...]

We’re having our first snow storm here in northern Michigan. The snow started falling around 10:15 this morning and it’s been falling all day. We’ve accumulated about 4-5 inches so far and we’re expecting more over night. So what do we do with all that snow? Build a snowman of course. When Little Man got [...]

It’s snowing pretty hard today. By 7am tomorrow, we’re supposed to have about 4-8 inches of snow. I have no doubt we’ll get there. We might even have more than that considering the rate it’s falling now. After returning from my daughter’s speech therapy I went out and snapped a few pictures so everyone can [...]

Today is kind of bittersweet for us. It’s our Littlest One’s first birthday and the 2nd anniversary of my husband’s cousin’s death in Iraq. As you can imagine, it’s an emotional day for us for while we’re celebrating the birth of our baby, we’re also remembering Jim and his sacrifice.
After Littlest One had ravioli for [...]

Last night was wonderful. My husband and I went on a date, thanks to my parents who watched the kids for us. We had a fantastically prepared dinner at the Willow Tree Restaurant in West Branch. I had two Flirtinis (Grey Goose Vodka, Cointreau, champagne, and pineapple juice). Yes, two! They were so good and [...]
