Monday evening ramblings

Categories: Family — Kim on Sep 29, 2008 @ 10:30 pm Comments (1)

Well, yesterday was cool and gloomy so we didn’t go for a Sunday drive but stayed home and laid around the house. But tomorrow I’ll have some new pictures of our kids’ treehouse. And Little Man lost something yesterday, his first something, and it signals he’s getting older. I’ll have pictures of that, too. [...]

Where his mind is

Little Man came up to me a few minutes ago and asked me to put in a movie. He handed me A Christmas Story. It’s not even Halloween yet but his mind is already on Christmas!

Cowboy and Cowgirl tote/diaper bag

This is my second sewing project using my Viking Scandinavia 300. Yesterday I drove to Midland and bought Cowboy and Cowgirl fabric. The outside and the lining are from the same family fabric. I bought a pattern at Stitches of You, a local fabric and quilt shop, and made it in one day.

A Sunday Drive

Categories: A Sunday Drive, Up North Happenings — Kim on Sep 21, 2008 @ 8:25 pm Comments (2)

One of the things I love most about living Up North is how breathtakingly beautiful it is during the Fall color change. The trees are God’s canvas and he paints them with brilliant and fiery reds, golds, and oranges.
When I was out driving today, I didn’t have any destination in mind. I just drove [...]

I love Traverse City

Categories: Up North Happenings — Kim on Sep 21, 2008 @ 9:52 am Comments (1)

I went to Traverse City yesterday. It felt so good to get to a larger city and go shopping at Grand Traverse Mall. I got cute jeans and matching shirts for Little Miss Throwsafit at Target and clothes for all three kids - on sale! - at Gymboree. They had the cutest cowboy themed clothes [...]

Going to church

Now that the canoe season is essentially over, we’re getting back to church. Finally. Little Man says he wants to go to Mrs. B’s, his teacher’s church. I think she already goes to our church actually. I remember seeing her lead the worship team some time last year, but I don’t remember seeing her in [...]

Visitors

Categories: Family — Kim on Sep 16, 2008 @ 8:15 am Comments (1)

We’ve had some visitors who have been stopping by the past few days. Little Man spotted this pileated woodpecker that stopped by. I was surprised at how big he was. I don’t remember seeing any pileated woodpeckers in Toledo where I grew up, but we see them regularly up here.

Then Little Man spotted this little [...]

A Sunday Drive

Categories: Family — Kim on Sep 15, 2008 @ 10:05 pm Comments (0)

Well, yesterday was a chilly, drizzly day, not the kind of day that says “come take a drive,” but a few days ago I did snap a few pictures of one of my favorite views of the AuSable River when I was on my way home from a day trip to Traverse City.
I drive by [...]

Telescopegate

Categories: Family — Kim on Sep 11, 2008 @ 2:03 pm Comments (4)

We had our first kindergarten controversy yesterday. Little Man got off the bus yesterday (Wednesday) and told me that a boy in his class named L took his backpack, opened it up, and took his toy Pirates of the Caribbean telescope that we got on our trip to Walt Disney World last March.  I asked [...]

Aromatherapy is good for the soul

Categories: Miscellaneous — Kim on Sep 09, 2008 @ 12:11 pm Comments (1)

Last night we started a fire in our clay fire pit, and the scent of burning wood combined with the scent of pine in the air was just delicious and calming and wonderful.
This morning I woke up to a beautiful Fall day Up North.  The air is crisp and fresh, and the smell of Autumn [...]
