Special Exposure Wednesday

I just now realized that I post a lot of my daughter’s therapy pictures for this particular meme. Rest assured, Little Miss Throwsafit does many other things besides therapy, so next time I’ll be sure to post a picture of her simply being a little girl having fun.
For now, however, I’m including another therapy picture. This time, it’s with Gretchen, her Part B summer physical therapist who visits us at home on Thursday afternoons. In this picture, LMT just kicked a ball for the first time. Her hair is obscuring her face a bit, but I think you can still see how happy she is with herself (click the image to enlarge). And I love how much Gretchen cheers her on during her therapy sessions.
Of course, the other kids participate in the therapy sessions, too. Little Man is there in the background watching his little sister kick the ball, and Littlest One is in the foreground taking it all in as he reaches for his own toy. It’s a bit of a madhouse during these sessions but at least it’s a joyful madhouse.

Oh she does look very satisfied! I love that all the kids are in on the therapy even if it is just to cheer her on. I’m trying to get Diva to a session with our DIR/Floortime coach so she can learn new ways to get in on the action at our house.

She looks very proud of herself! My son’s little sister is always trying to join in his therapy sessions too, lol!

She looks so happy. It’s great that her brother cheer her on, too!
On an unrelted topic, I have a question about her apraxia. How did you know she had it other than the fact she wasn’t talking? Were there any sounds she did or didn’t make that helped clue you and the doctors/therapists in? I first heard about apraxia last year at the Ds convention because apparently they are discovering more and more children with Ds also have apraxia, but I dismissed it then. She is a very active little girl and has great gross and fine motor skills and we just thought that since she tends to concentrate on these areas her speech is put on the back burner. I’m still not too concerned about it, but I’m wondering if there are any signs I can watch for or things I can do to try to see if she has problems with it. School starts next week and I will certainly be speaking to her teacher and therapists about it, but I’d love to hear from someone who is dealing with it.
Thanks.

I really like this picture. Therapy is such an important part of our childrens lives. It is something we all have been through and what a better way to share your emotions and feeling then through pictures. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Yay! She did it! These moments are so thrilling, aren’t they? Great capture.
I remember the days when Wil’s therapists came into the home and the whole crew got involved. Way fun…and wild.

I’m obviously a bit behind with my commenting! I can see how proud she is, what a great photo! And since you mention her hair, she does have great hair, doesn’t she? How do you get your pictures to enlarge with a click? I would love to know that trick.
