We’re going to see Thomas
I just ordered my tickets for A Day Out with Thomas. This is our third time visiting with Thomas. The first time we went to a Thomas event was 2 years ago at Greenfield Village (Little Man calls it Greenbean Village. So cute!) at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. You pay for entry into the park and for the trip on the train, which is pulled by a life size Thomas engine. It’s pretty cool, actually. The ride was the typical train ride around the village, which lasted about 20 minutes, I think. But since we moved three hours North a year and a half ago, we decided that it would be just too hard to schedule time for the event, so we thought for sure we were going to miss it.
Thankfully, our hope of returning to see Thomas was restored. One day last year, when my husband was on his way home from a trip to Toledo, he saw a billboard advertising A Day Out with Thomas at Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad. I went on line to find out where this place was and saw that it was about 2 hours from here. That was far better than the three hours to Dearborn. Neither Steve nor I had been to Crossroads Village, so we didn’t quite know what to expect. What we found was that it was a small version of Greenfield Village.
It was nice, just not as nice or as well funded as The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village. However, what I liked better was the Thomas train ride because it
was beautiful, much nicer than the cars that made up the Greenfield Village train. Huckleberry Railroad had antique coaches that had leather seats and beautifully carved wooden arms rests. And the ride was 40 minutes, twice as long as the ride at Greenfield Village. We all enjoyed it and are looking forward to this year’s visit with Thomas.

Awesome! I hope you and the family have a great time. Take lots of pictures!
We took a trip several years ago up to Sault Ste Marie. While we were there we took a mountain train ride. It was a day-long trip with a couple stops, but my kids LOVED it!
