Lessons learned from a song
I was on the road today traveling to Baldwin, Michigan, about a 2 1/2 hour drive, to see someone about some new software for our canoe livery. While enjoying the very pretty drive, I had a country music station on and I heard Trace Adkins’ song "You’re Gonna Miss This" and I fell in love with it the moment I heard it.
How many times when you were young did your parents tell you to stop trying to grow up so fast because life would go by fast enough? I remember my mom telling me that very thing when I was a teenager, and she was so right. There are moments when I look around at my life and I still can’t believe that I am now a married 4o year old with three kids.
This is still a very good lesson for parents of young children to remember: enjoy every moment you have with your kids, even the tiresome ones when they’re screaming, whining, and crying, because some day soon, and it will happen much faster than we realize, we’ll be sending them off to college to start their own lives.
As I listened to the song today, I wanted to turn the car around and go home to be with my kids.
Here’s the music video for you to enjoy.

As a mom whose MOPS days are coming to an end, this particular song hits me hard every time I hear it. My youngest will start kindergarten in a few months, and I know I am definitely gonna miss this! Thanks for sharing:)

Beth,
I remember how he was glued to your leg when I first met him. And soon he’ll be off to school. It’s amazing how things change in just a few years.
